In our classroom, we take learning very seriously. All of the students follow principles identified in the Malcolm Baldrige Framework for Performance Excellence which allows for all students to learn in a multiage setting. At the beginning of the school year, the students used an Affinity Diagram and Light Voting (Quality Tools) to create their mission for learning. After many days of discussion, their statement was created. Each morning after the announcements, the students recite their mission statement for learning and live by it, each and every day.

Our mission in Room 414 is to be the best that we can be.  We will be prepared for the next grade by listening to each other and paying attention, by learning and working together, and by thinking and using our brains.  We are a quality team!

The students also work hard each day to achieve specific goals that will enable them to be prepared for the next grade level.  These goals are:

By the end of first grade, the students...

  • will read at Level I

  • will write at Stage 4

  • will pass the end of the year math test with 75% accuracy.

By the end of second grade, the students...

  • will read at Level M.

  • will write at Stage 6.

  • will pass the end of the year math test with 75% accuracy.

We continually work on the identification of class goals that will help us be prepared for the next level.  I am so proud of each of these hard working students and am confident that by working together, we will reach our goals.  This year, we will be focusing on using Quality Tools as we learn.
