Sorry,
but we're still on vacation!!!
I have
added a new message that will hopefully
explain our long vacation.
I'm sorry
that's it's taken so long to
get the beanies back, but I
have been working on
updating the beanie
strategies, as well as teach
a very "needy" class. The
main reason that I have
taken the strategy posters
off the site, is because I
have commissioned someone (I
can't draw!) to redraw the
beanie graphics. The
originals were created with
clip art that I am not able
to redistribute over the
internet due to copyright
laws. I had no idea that
there would be such a huge
response, and I do not want
to cause any trouble with
the clip art company.
I have
been approached by a couple
of publishers, but would
like to be able to offer the
beanie posters, bookmarks,
signs, lesson plans,
instructional materials for
teaching the strategies
(text, sentence strips,
etc.) on a CD for a much
more reasonable price (under
$10.00). I am retiring
early at the end of the year
to pursue some other areas
in education. I teach a
couple of reading graduate
courses, and I also will be
hopefully be doing more
workshops and consulting
related to reading.
Therefore, I am currently
truly savoring each and
every moment with my
students as I also collect
data related to the beanies,
literature circles, and
leveled guided reading.
I have
not had time to look into
reproducing larger laminated
posters, as well
reproduction of a short
resource book for those who
may not have access to
quality printing, but will
be working on it as soon as
school gets out. I am also
going to be sending out
flyers (via internet) to let
districts know that I am
available for a presentation
on the topics listed above.
I have facilitated many
inservices in my own
district and within my home
state, but have not had the
time until now.
Please let me know if
you would be interested
when I do get the
updates and materials
finished. I
would like to keep it
affordable, before I
turn it over to a
publisher. Please let
me know your thoughts
and if you would be
interested. Interest
will most likely dictate
how fast I get going on
this. Thanks so much
and please feel free to
email me with your
thoughts at
aprilschilb@yahoo.com.
or
aschilb@emsd37.org.
Thanks so much for your
patience!
